TJ Maxx

Are you a Marshalls or T.J. Maxx shopper?  Earlier this week TJ Maxx & Marshalls announced that they will be jumping on the online bandwagon by opening an online store soon.  I prefer TJM and I have also been to a "TJ Maxx Runway Store" where I saw handbags priced at $360.00. Just in case you have been hiding under a rock and have not been to these stores here is the scoop:
The TJX Companies, Inc., is the largest international apparel and home fashions off-price department store chain in the United States. Based in Framingham, Mass., the company originally evolved from the Zayre discount department store chain, founded in 1956, which opened its first branch of T.J. Maxx in 1976 and its first BJ's Wholesale Club in 1984. In 1988, Zayre sold their own nameplate to Ames, a rival discount department store chain, and the company renamed itself to The TJX Companies, Incorporated. In 1995, TJX doubled in size when it acquired Marshalls. TJ Maxx & Marshalls was consolidated to form the Marmaxx group which includes  - T J Maxx, Marshalls & Home Goods.

  2. Great info on the history of TJMaxx. I didn't realize that it evolved from Zayre. We had one here in CT... Actually, I believe it was headquartered here at one point too.

Thanks for Sharing your thoughts. . . I look forward to them!
